Population
Lake Waccamaw has a population of 1368 within its town limits.

Government
Lake Waccamaw is governed by a Mayor and Town Board.  A town manager is appointed by the Town Board and serves at its pleasure. 

Services
Lake Waccamaw provides fire, rescue, and police protection, as well as water, sewer, and sanitation services. Adelphia Cable provides cable TV service to Lake Waccamaw and the surrounding area.

Medical
Lake Waccamaw Medical Clinic is a private medical office with laboratory facilities. The doctors are affiliated with Columbus County Hospital. The office also serves two local nursing homes: Premier Living and Waccamaw Village Nursing Home.

Banks
The BB&T bank serves the town's financial needs.

Industry
Existing industry consists of Council Tool Company and Top Tobacco Company.  There are also a variety of eating establishments, a pharmacy, flower store, and shopping stores located in a strip mall in the central portion of Town.

State Park
Current facilities include a picnic area with tables and grills, a pier, hiking trails, bathroom facilities, phone service and a new visitor's center.

Cultural Resources
Housed in the circa 1900 former Atlantic Coast Line depot is the Lake Waccamaw Depot Museum. Call (910) 646-3700 for Information to attend activities which deal with nature, wildlife, local history, art, storytelling, and canoe outings. The museum collections include historic photographs, diaries, historical departments, and natural history specimens of the lake and surrounding environments. The Rube McCray Memorial Library offers excellent facilities and learning resources as well.
